Come Home to the Belvedere

Policies, Fees & Other Info:

I hate policies. They seem so formal. But when you stay here, you need to know what the deal is.

Check-in and out

Check-in is between 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. If you need to check in sooner, please make prior arrangements  through our website. Please do not come before 4:00 p.m. unless you have made prior arrangements. That is the time when I do errands and make sure the house is ready for you. I hate it when I have to meet guests all dirty from the yard or oven cleaning.  So, help me out here.

I want to look like this when you arrive…

Woman with iron - 1950's

Thanks in advance. Likewise, please let us know if you will be coming later.

Check out time is 11:00 a.m. If you need to check out later, please make arrangements in advance.

Payment

We accept all major credit cards, cash, and checks (if we know your relatives).  State and local taxes of 14.85% are charged on top of the listed rates. Rates and taxes apply to double occupancy of each room except The Lucy Munger, where the initial rate is shown for one person. Rates are subject to change without notice.

We will charge you extra for each additional person over two when you make the reservation. For those of you who bring children with you, we charge “adult” rates for those over the age of 10.

Minimum Stays & Cancellations

We require a two-night minimum stay for certain weekends in Hannibal. We also may require a three-or-four night minimum for some Holidays. In all cases, minimum stays are identified on the reservation calendar.

Cancellations During COVID 19: We have waived all cancellation policies and fees. If you need to cancel for any reason, even at the last minute, we’d rather have you do that and feel safe. While the pandemic has officially been declared “OVER”, we recognize that there are still outbreaks and new strains. When this is “really” over, we shall return to the policies below.

We will charge guests the full amount of their booking if they cancel less than 3 days prior to check-in if I cannot rebook the room with someone else. If guests are a no-show, we will charge as if they have stayed. If you cancel your reservation 6 to 13 days in advance, we will charge a cancellation fee of one night’s stay plus tax. But if you get caught in a blizzard or your plane falls out of the sky, give me a call and we’ll talk.  If you cancel your reservation at least 14 days prior to the check-in date, we will not bill you anything.

General Information

Gus & Gomer

Gus & Gomer

We have two exceptionally large dogs at The Belvedere Inn. Gomer is our newly rescued Great White Pyrenes weighing in at 95 pounds. He is a leaner and will inadvertently knock you over unless you are prepared.  He is also a little skittish..let him come to you. Gus is our one year old Golden Retriever. He is LOVES people, is a hyper adolescent and will sit on your lap if you let him but at 90 pounds – think twice. If you do not like dogs or are afraid, please tell me and I will keep then away. If you are allergic to dogs, we will guide you to a lovely B & B that will make your stay in Hannibal an enjoyable one. No other pets are allowed except for service dogs.

There is no smoking in the house, but from time to time my pesky husband will sneak a cigar on our east porch. You may smoke outside in either the upper or lower patios.

Guns are not allowed. We respect your right to carry guns, however, we do not allow them at The Belvedere Inn.

Red Wine!  I love it! But sheets, towels and duvet covers do not. If you get wine or dark liquid stains on sheets, blankets, duvet covers, pillows, or towels we will charge you an extra $25 for cleaning. If we must replace any of the above, we will charge you for the full cost of replacement. I don’t like to do this, but linens take a beating anyway and red wine, chocolate, liquor, etc., just make it much, much worse. So, help me out here and be careful with that stuff.

Each bed is furnished with two down pillows & a down comforter plus two non-down pillows.  If you are allergic to down, please let me know in advance.

Refrigerators:  There is a guest fridge on the 2nd floor. Use it for water, pop, wine, etc. If it gets too full, see me for storage in the kitchen. The Belvedere Suite has its own fridge. There is a fridge in the kitchen at Scoundrel’s Inn and another under the front staircase.

Early Breakfast is available at an extra charge of $10 per person during high season from April 1 through October 31st. This request needs to be made at least one day in advance. It is becoming increasingly difficult for just the one of me to accommodate these requests when we are busy and I am trying to end one breakfast at the same time I am cooking for 12-14 additional people.

Information for those with disabilities

Non-ADA accessible:  The Inn was built circa 1859 and is not handicapped accessible. We recommend lighter luggage because The Belvedere Inn has no elevator. Rooms are located on the 2nd and third floors of the house and the Belvedere Suite has an additional set of stairs. There are twenty steep stairs between each floor, so get your walking shoes on!

SCOUNDREL’S Inn is Handicapped Friendly

Scoundrel’s Inn, located at 214 North 6th Street, is our newest addition and is attached to back of The Belvedere Inn. Rooms at Scoundrel’s are located on the first floor. To to get into the house, you will need to go up four low-rise steps. Once inside, door entryways and hallways are wide and walk-in showers have only a 4-inch curb.
