Breakfast
We provide an assortment of breakfast fare for our guests seven days a week. We alternate sweet days with savory ones so guests get to experience a variety of taste treat sensations. We normally serve breakfast at 9am so that everyone can enjoy the rest of their day. Sometimes guests need to eat earlier or later, which is no problem. Just let me know so we can accommodate your schedule.
We eat in the dining room at the dining room table. You will be eating with strangers but then, that is the fun part of staying at a traditional B & B!! You are also welcome to take dishes to your room or out on the front proch, but room service is not available.
Breakfast includes fresh seasonal fruits, breads – more often than not homemade or English muffins (toaster provided) and homemade pastries. Spreads include cream cheese and butter. We also have an array of homemade Jams and nut butters. We often serve a variety of baked egg dishes with either ham, bacon or turkey sausage and a vegetable such as spinach, kale, broccoli, mushrooms, asparagus, or sweet potatoes. These are usually sprinkled with any number of cheeses – cheddar, blue, goat, italian. During the summer we participate in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) where we get fresh fruits and vegetables all during the season that we use for breakfast. Closest thing to farm to table as you can get in Northeast Missouri
Our Inn serves homemade granola as well as a small assortment of hot or cold cereal. We also have dried fruits and nuts (apricots, prunes, walnuts, and cranberries) to top off your cereal or yogurt and granola. We serve Greek yogurt without sugar.
We grind our own Starbucks French Roast coffee each morning. It is strong. If you want a milder roast please let us know. We have a limited selection of decaf and hot chocolate and a fairly decent assortment of teas, including black, green, decaf and herbal. We have milk, half & half and juice, too.
Dietary replacements (soy ,almond, or rice milk and gluten free breads and cereals) for breakfast are provided on request. Please give us advanced notice.
On weekends (Saturday and Sunday) the menu includes specials, like zucchini or asparagus quiche or baked French toast or chocolate waffles, Dutch Apple Betty, raspberry/white chocolate scones, plus a breakfast salad, in addition to the regular fare. We frequently serve Mimosas or Bloody Mary’s on the weekends as well. I especially like weekends!!
We look forward to seeing you at breakfast!
